The ALT codes can be used for the French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish languages only. Additionally, on Windows-based computers, combinations of the ALT key plus a numeric code can be used to type non-English characters (accented letters, diacritical marks, or punctuation symbols). When assessing Presentational Writing in AAPPL, all Romanized alphabet languages (English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish), can use the on-screen special character palette to insert accents and symbols.
